My upstairs neighbor has at long last launched his food chronicling project, GreaseFreak. It's a catalog in the working of the classic Chicago foods - the Italian Beef, the Hot Dog, the Gyro and the Burger (some have already quibbled to me about the inclusion of the Turkey Club, but I view it as a sop to the white-meat nation). Each vendor is ranked on taste, presentation and ambience, with an accompanying photo (no photo exists of any damage to his gastric system in preparation of this project).
Worth a read, and contact the freak himself with your debates on rankings (I, for one, give Stella's much higher marks...)...

Posted by: mike on August 20, 2006 07:36 PMWell, Mexifood is prevalent in Chicago, and the Burrito is the food that has done more for a hungry mankind than most... But I don't know that mexifood is uniquely localized to Chicago (though my NYC friends claim there's no good Chorizo in that fair city...)
Posted by: Eric Sinclair on August 20, 2006 10:06 PMSo the Polska Kilebasa is localised to Czcagzo?
Posted by: mike on August 22, 2006 08:22 PMRemind me again, why did I become a vegetarian?
