iCal

Only because I'd been interested in iCal a long time ago do I find Apple's support of the standard, as nicely documented here to be heartening.

But, oddly, I can't recall the application I wanted iCal for..... Probably something back in the days of AIDA, when we were trying to build better team scheduling for ourselves. Maybe Eric remembers....

iCal... iCal... it's been ages. Back in the day, iCal and vCal were sort-of competing standards as I remember. We were indeed talking about it in the context of building better team tools. We built one of the team project management sites able to emit vCal files for online calendar entries, which worked with Outlook, as it can import vCal entries. I am thinking that perhaps either Netscape Communicator or Palm Desktop used iCal. I don't recall us ever implementing anything iCal, but perhaps one of the above apps prompted us to think about it... But then again, this link (http://www.novell.com/news/press/archive/2001/08/pr01081.html) implies that iCal wasn't all that common yet. Of course, this link (http://wp.netscape.com/browsers/4/faq/) suggests that the v4.x series of Communicator supported inbound iCal messages, so that's probably what we were thinking of at the time.

Why can I remember this stuff, but I can lose my keys so easily?
