A Word About Comments

KJ.com has been bombarded with comment spam over the last 48 hours or so, from an abundance of IPs and addresses all flogging the same bogus URL. As a result I intend to use an iron hand in comment-closing for a while. Entries older than a week will be closed promptly. So if you have something to say, don't dilly-dally! (Unless you are our lowlife comment spammer, in which case you can put a sock in it.)

Are you using any comment spam filters? I've had pretty good luck with the keyword filter set up to automatically junk posts that use any pharmaceutical, casino, or porn related terms. That knocks out 98% or more of the spam our site receives.

We had been using the MT filters and they had been working, but we had not been "managing key words" which my husband is currently doing now. Some stuff slipped through, alas. Thanks for the tip though!
